Meet Our Staff

CJ Reeves
Executive Director

Christie (known as CJ) brings a wealth of expertise to her position as Executive Director. Deeply experienced in senior housing and also a nurse, she has worked in communities ranging in size for as small as 42 to as large as 450. An animal lover - and supporter for the Humane Society - she treasures her English Bulldogs. Now enjoying the wonderful opportunities in Jacksonville, she has in the past lived also in locales as diverse as Louisiana, Colorado, Tennessee, and Mississippi. Specifically attracted to Anthem Lakes because of its park-like setting and the careful attention to design and vision, she has three children who have now followed her passion to serve in senior housing communities.

Don Burns
Environmental Services Director

A native of Rhode Island, Don was commissioned in 1982 , became a Naval Aviator, and then continued to serve our nation for a total of 30 years in a variety of capacities, including as an Operations Officer, Maintenance Officer, Officer in Charge, and Commanding Officer. During that period he competed a Masters Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

After retiring in 2012, he joined a large CCRC in Jacksonville (near the famed Mayo Clinic) with oversight as environmental director for independent, assisted, memory care, and nursing homes properties and residents. Subsequently, he joined Anthem Lakes and oversees all aspects of facility maintenance, inspections, contracts, landscaping, upkeep, cleanliness and laundry. A quote says it best: “Every I look forward to serving residents at Anthem Lakes”.

Michael S Butorac
Director of Dining Services

Chef Michael has honed his skills in the culinary arts over 20 years, bringing a special passion to the special considerations attendant in senior living communities. Early in his career when working in a hospital setting he achieved 99th percentile scores for resident satisfaction. He subsequently also was a Bronze Finalist in the prestigious American Culinary Hot Foods Competition, and has provided leadership in the assisted living community sector with prior duties including regional dining oversight for over twenty communities. Michele Dotts
Activity Director

When asked what she most enjoys at Anthem Lakes, her response is: "I absolutely love the people." This of course is an ideal qualification!. Michele joined Anthem Lakes at its opening, bringing with her from Ohio a core belief in the celebration of life, and is responsible for a richly varied activity program that includes a wide variety of community outreach - scouts, artists, schools, churches, and more. Nicole Hodge
Director of Nursing

While Director of Nursing (DON) is the customary title, at Anthem Lakes a more appropriate (larger!) job description is Wellness Director, because the emphasis Nicole brings certainly includes both the well being and enhanced enjoyment of life for everyone at our community. Yes, this does include traditional DON duties specifically related to nursing concerns as well as supervision of care staff, but being a Wellness Director involves having a holistic concern -- body and spirit both. Having worked in settings from home health to medical centers to other senior communities, she brings a wealth of experience and a "caring heart' approach much appreciated by both staff and residents.

Tia' Hara Kerr (Tia)
Sales Counselor

Tia joined Anthem Lakes shortly after the initial opening, quickly developing a caring heart for all members of the Anthem Lakes family, both residents and staff. Moving through earlier positions, Tia found her present ‘home’ in the marketing office where she excels in working with both seniors directly and also with families beginning the process of assisting their loved ones. Longer term, her career goal is to continue her personal growth and expertise in the senior housing business by increasing her knowledge of all operational aspects of assisted living — a great career path and goal that benefits our residents in her understanding of their needs.

Latonya LaRosa
Director of Sales

Originally from the great state of Missouri, LaTonya brings deep senior level experience to Anthem Lakes. With over 20 years of service in senior housing which include having held positions in sales, memory care, and even as executive director, LaTonya is exceptionally well qualified to be a great resource for seniors (and their adult children!) in making transitions easier over the entire spectrum from independent living to assisted living and even to the specialized needs and services for excellence in memory care.

Denise Macchia
Memory Care Director

A life-long Florida resident, Denise planned for a career in healthcare, earning in 2009 her degree in health care administration followed later (after gaining direct work experience in assisted living) with an MBA. Having truly worked ‘up the ladder’, her first senior housing position was as a server, followed by an administrative internship that allowed her wide exposure -- where she confirmed her passion for working with memory care residents and their families.

That experience provides context for her praise of how special Creekside memory care is at Anthem Lakes. A natural setting, circular interior hallways for walking, a great outdoor space, a high staffing ratio and more -all important, but another critical difference is her ability to create and sustain in staff a caring heart environment. Denise emphasizes the importance of working with families and their loved ones to discover the unique interests of each resident. Also, for family members, she reaches out with eduction and understanding, including the offer of providing a ‘virtual dementia’ experience which powerfully imparts information not fully conveyed in any other way.

Erica Nelson
Business Office Manager

Erica Nelson, Business Office Manager at Anthem Lakes fell in love with seniors by chance. Erica graduated from the University of North Florida with her bachelors degree in Public Administration and Public Health in 2013 and found her way to the senior living industry via a colleague's referral. Shortly after graduation she took a position as a Business Office Manager at Wyndham Lakes, a 245 bed Assisted Living and Memory care community. After servering as the BOM for three years she was promoted to the Assistant Executive Director position and oversaw the community during an ownership change. During her 5 years at the community, Erica grew a passion for caring and loving for the elderly, especially those in memory care. Erica has extensive knowledge of both operations and clinical regulations. She holds high expectations and standards when it comes to caring for seniors. Erica is as an ALZ certified trainer and FL ALF CORE certified.
